FAQ

1. Does Tile Inc. install tile?
No. Tile Inc. does not employ tile installers. We do not install tile. We are a wholesaler working directly with tile and stone manufacturers.

2. Will Tile Inc. come out to measure and calculate tile?
No. Because we do not install tile, Tile Inc. will not come out to measure or calculate tile. Even if you bring in your own measurements to the showroom, the showroom staff is not responsible for quantity takeoffs. Your tile installer should measure and calculate your tile needs. Tile Inc. staff will assist in filling out a color selection sheet that your tile installer will use to order your material. Tile Inc. staff will keep your color selection on file and provide copies for you and for your tile installer to refer to. We will be glad to work with your tile installer to complete an order based off of their measurements.

3. Will Tile Inc. visit a jobsite to assess special and unique tile needs?
Yes. Tile Inc. will come to a jobsite to consult special and unique tile needs and provide recommendations base on the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) handbook. Tile Inc. has staff members that are either certified as a Ceramic Tile Consultant (CTC) or certified as a Certified Ceramic Tile Salesperson (CCTS).  

4. If Tile Inc. does not install, measure, or calculate tile, who can do this for me?
Tile Inc. works with many local tile installers that we can recommend. Although Tile Inc. will recommend a tile installer, that does not guarantee that he or she will provide the quality of installation or perform the work in a manner acceptable to you. It is the responsibility of you, the project owner, AND the contractor to reach agreement on the work that will be performed, including but not limited to, the materials and methods that will be used and the quality of workmanship expected. Tile Inc. assumes no responsibility for work performed, offers no guarantees or warranties, either written or implied, as to any installer, work preformed, or workmanship of any installer. Tile Inc. does not monitor tile installers nor settle disputes. We do, however, welcome feedback related to your experience with a recommended tile installer.

5. How do I pick a good tile installer?
Tile Inc. recommends that you thoroughly assess the contractors you are considering. Do their installers have the required skills and knowledge for your project? Do they have recent jobs installations that they can show you? Do they follow sound building and business practices? Do they have the ability and track record for providing quality and uninterrupted service? Do they carry the appropriate insurance to reduce your liability for property damage or injured workers? For a detailed questionnaire, print The CTEF Contractor Questionnaire provided by the Ceramic Tile education Foundation (CTEF) and use it as a conversation starter with the tile installers you interview.

6. Does Tile Inc. sell hardwood, carpet, vinyl, VCT or DuraCeramic?
No. Tile Inc. does not sell hardwood, carpet, sheet vinyl, VCT or DuraCeramic.

7. Does Tile Inc. have someone to help layout a tile design?
Yes. Tile Inc. has a creative and friendly staff that will assist in creating a beautiful tile design for your space. It is always helpful to bring in cabinet samples, countertop samples, paint samples, and adjacent flooring samples to achieve the best look possible. Customers are also encouraged to bring in magazine pictures or other inspirational pieces as well. Tile Inc. staff will assist in filling out a color selection sheet that your tile installer will use to order your material. Tile Inc. staff will keep your color selection on file and provide copies for you and for your tile installer to refer to.

8. Is it necessary to make an appointment before visiting the showroom at Tile Inc.?
Customers are always welcome to visit during showroom hours (Monday-Friday 7AM-4PM) to browse our large selection of tile without an appointment.
With new construction projects, kitchen backsplash projects and multi-room remodeling projects, it is recommended to schedule an appointment with a showroom consultant, as there are so many tiles to choose from. A scheduled appointment allows our staff to block out time to give your project the attention that it requires. Tile Inc. staff will assist in filling out a color selection sheet that your tile installer will use to order your material. Tile Inc. staff will keep your color selection on file and provide copies for you and for your tile installer to refer to.

9. Will Tile Inc. monitor my builder allowance and overages?
Tile Inc. is not responsible for monitoring builder allowances. If you have an allowance please inform us. Once we get quantities from your installer we will present the order to your builder. If you exceed your allowance please talk to your builder.

10. What if the actual tile ordered for my installation does not look like the tile I picked in Tile Inc.’s showroom?
Tile and stone samples in the showroom can vary in shade from the actual material Tile Inc. furnishes. Slight variation in color is characteristic of ALL tile and stone.

11. What if the trim pieces for my tile do match my field tile?
Trim pieces are made to complement/coordinate the field tile, not to match.

12. What if the grout color picked in the showroom does not look like the sample picked from Tile Inc.’s showroom?
Grout color samples in the showroom are reproductions can vary in shade from actual installation. Slight variation in color is characteristic of ALL grout.

13. What is the typical lead-time for a special order tile?
Lead time varies depending on the material chosen for your project. Special order tiles may take as few as three days, some may take up to 4-6 weeks. Lead times will be indicated upon the time of tile selection.
14. Will there be a freight charge for my tile material?
This will depend upon the tile that is chosen. Tile Inc. stocks over 100,000 SF of tile. If we have to order material from a manufacturer that will not arrive on a stock truck, there will be a freight charge for your material. Freight charges will depend on the weight of the material and where it is shipped from. Freight charges will be indicated upon the time of tile selection.

15. Can tile be returned if unopened?
This will depend upon the tile that is chosen. We will only accept full carton quantities for stocked field tile. Stocked trim pieces and stocked decorative pieces may be returned by the piece. Stocked materials must be a current color and shade and may be returned within 30 days with a 25% restocking fee with your invoice. No returns on bagged goods, discontinued, sale items and absolutely NO RETURN OF NON STOCK SPECIAL ORDER MATERIALS.

16. Does Tile Inc. deliver?
Absolutely! For a minimal charge, we will be glad to deliver your tile. Our terrific driver will be happy to unload material 15 feet from back of truck. Please contact our staff to make arrangements and determine costs.
